Romeo & Juliet

Nurse
Home | Tybalt | Benvolio | Lord Capulet | Lady Capulet | Romeo | Juliet | Nurse | Sampson & Gregory

Maternal figure to Juliet.

"Peace, I have done. God mark thee to his grace! Thou wast the prettiest babe that e'er I nurs'd: An I might live to see thee married once, I have my wish."

The nurse acts much more as a mother than Lady Capulet does. From the begining of the scene, Juliet's nurse is much more gentle and kind than her mother. Since the Nurse breastfed Juliet as a child, she felt much closer to her.
