Romeo & Juliet

Benvolio

Home | Tybalt | Benvolio | Lord Capulet | Lady Capulet | Romeo | Juliet | Nurse | Sampson & Gregory

Member of the Montague house

Benvolio: "Part, fools! put up your swords; you know not what you do."

Tybalt: "What art thou drawn amond these heartless hinds? Turn thee Benvolio, look upon thy death."

Benvolio; "I do but keep the peace: put up thy sword, or manage it to part these men with me."

The Capulet's and the Montague's have very strong hate towards one another. Benvolio, nephew of Lord Montague, tries to mantain peace amongst the two parties, proving himself as kind and not pugnacious like the other characters.

Benvolio breaks up the first fight that we see take place. In the first scene, you can easily tell that the Capulet's care more for fighting than the Montague's do, showing that Benvolio is more nuetral than a Montague.
